If you are reading this section of our web site, I hope it is because you are considering becoming a member of AAUW. You will find it an exciting and rewarding experience.
Members of the North Fulton branch vary in background, interests, and professions, but we share a common commitment to advocating for equity and educational opportunity for women of all ages. You will find that membership brings with it the opportunity to make new friends, be exposed to new ideas, and to be part of an organization that makes a difference on both the local and national levels.
At our monthly Saturday morning meetings we have hosted state elected officials, Fulton County School Board Members, community leaders and health experts. We have awarded scholarships to local college students, visited a Buddhist monastery and attended theater performances. We have just formed a monthly book discussion club.
The North Fulton branch has members from NYC, Chicago, Canada, California, Pennsylvania, Florida and other places. But all of us are interested in ideas, world and local affairs, books and learning. We are committed to equity for women and girls,
Our branch’s funding source is the local Annual AAUW Bookfair in which we join with the Atlanta and Cobb County branches. We have just completed our 54th Annual Book Fair at which over 75,000 gently used books were for sale at bargain prices. Members of all three branches work in our bookroom year round. Scholarships to college women in North Fulton are funded from the proceeds of this book sale.
Guests are always welcome at our meetings. To find out more, please contact our Membership Chair, Karen Leasman, at karenleasman@aol.com.
